Embark on a full-day private shore excursion from Le Havre Cruise Port to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of France’s most iconic royal residences.
Your day begins with convenient pick up directly at your cruise ship in Le Havre. Your English-speaking driver/guide will be waiting outside the terminal with a sign bearing the lead traveler’s name. After introductions and a brief overview of the itinerary, board your premium air‑conditioned private vehicle and start the 2.5–3 hour drive toward Versailles, with a comfort stop en route if needed.
On arrival, admire the grand façade and vast forecourt of the château before your guide leads you to the entrance. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, Versailles evolved from a hunting lodge built by Louis XIII into a lavish palace under Louis XIV, and remained the residence of the French monarchy until the reign of Louis XVI.
With your pre-booked passport ticket (included), begin your visit of the palace with your private guide. Walk through the opulent State Apartments, the King’s and Queen’s rooms, and the glittering Hall of Mirrors while your guide explains court life, royal ceremonies, and the symbolism behind the decoration and architecture.
After the guided portion, you are free to explore more of the estate at your own pace. Your passport ticket gives access to the gardens, the Park, the Estate of Trianon (Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, and the Queen’s Hamlet), temporary exhibitions, the Gallery of Coaches on weekends, and, on select days, the Musical Gardens or Musical Fountains Show. Your guide will help you prioritise what to see based on your interests and the day’s schedule.
At the agreed time, meet your driver and relax on the journey back to Le Havre. You will be dropped off at your ship in time for departure. This private tour accommodates up to 8 guests per minivan and can be customized to your preferences; if you would like to adjust the balance between palace, gardens, and Trianon, or add a short Paris photo stop on the way back (subject to time), simply discuss it with us in advance.
