The place is visually stunning and well worth a visit. Lu (Luanne (sp?)) was our guide and she was quite knowledgeable and informative. She was personable, friendly and engaging with our group of 6. She provided numerous insights about Mont St Michel, its history, architecture, residents, etc. over the centuries and gave personal recommendations for places to eat (and to skip) that were spot on!! She also provided suggestions to eat and do around Bayeux during our stay in the area. Half day tour of D-Day sites was equally as good. Pascal was our guide and he has an incredible knowledge of the entire area, detailed facts and context regarding the history and events leading up to the invasion. He was humorous, encouraged questions, interacted with everyone on the your individually and moved at a good pace to ensure we had adequate time at each location while finishing the tour timely!

Our tour guide, Juliette, led us into the village at the foot of the Mont, up the 350 stairs to reach the abbey, and through the multitude of buildings that comprise this amazing site. On the way she plied us with history, facts, and stories that made the experience come to life. At the end of our guided tour, we had time to grab a bite and/or continue to explore on our own before the drive back to Bayeux. All-in-all: a magical day at a truly magical place!

There were 8 in our van and that was just right! He even dropped us off at train station in Bayeux so we could catch our train back to Paris. I would totally recommend this tour and guide on the must see list for tours from Bayeux and Normandy region! Lunch is a challenge in Abbey village as small restaurants and we bought Penni to eat but no places to sit and eat lunch. I had read on reviews to pack your own lunch that might be good idea but no place to sit outside to eat. Had plenty of time after tour to eat and shop but tables all full in restaurants ! Would be nice if abbey could have picnic tables near entrance!

Just an FYI,we had no idea it was 3 hours away from Paris, shame on me for not verifying. We had to pay 400 euros to get a bolt driver to get us there in time as trains don’t start till 8:30am. So please plan ahead,how you are getting there? Suggestion, get to Bayeux, France the day before and stay the night. It is a cute town to explore with nice restaurants.

      The first views of Mont St Michel were incredible. As we got closer, it’s overall magnificence
      stood out. The tour got us there but interpretation was minimal.

This tour was a bit more expensive than some of the others, but our tour guide not only provided transportation but personally guided us through the entire abbey which was outstanding. Valentin is an archeologist who loves history and was extremely knowledgeable of all the aspects of the abbey. Would HIGHLY recommend this tour company.

A parte questa valutazione, la visita è stata piacevole e rilassante, nonostante il posto sia davvero pieno di turisti, perché la nostra guida (Ilia) ci ha dato tutti i migliori consigli per muoverci ed abbiamo potuto visitare l’abbazia saltando una coda che sembrava interminabile.

      It was convenient pick up and drop off from Bayeux. And there was ample time to explore on your own. If I were to do this again, I would forgo the guided tour in the abbey.

Our guide led us on a tour all the way up to the abbey and through its many rooms and chapels. Along the way, he gave us a thorough overview of the history and many interesting details. The views are phenomenal! After we exited at the top, we had about 2.5 hours of free time to explore on our own and have lunch. Although the abbey is well worth the visit, the street on the way up and down is lined with overpriced, low quality souvenir shops and restaurants (all similar items and similar menus) which kind of diminished the historical mood/value of the abbey. Our van ride back to Bayeux was quite comfortable especially since we were hot and tired from the many steps up and down. Be aware that you must have good mobility and have a good sense of balance for this tour-lots of uneven cobblestone, steps, and pavement. It’s a workout, Overall, still a must do and well worth the visit.
