Alsace Wine Route Exploration: Exclusive Half-Day Journey from Strasbourg
Embark on an exclusive half-day tour to uncover the treasures of the Alsace Wine Route, one of France's most esteemed wine regions. Celebrated for its exceptional white wines, Alsace is a viticultural paradise where a dry, sunny climate, diverse geology, rich soils, and optimal sun exposure combine to produce wines of remarkable aromatic complexity and purity of fruit.
Convenient Pickup in Strasbourg
Your experience begins in Strasbourg, where you’ll meet your English-speaking driver-guide at a designated pickup point. Upon booking, you’ll receive detailed information about your meeting location and time. After a brief presentation of the day’s itinerary, board your comfortable, air-conditioned minivan and set off towards the vineyards.
Journey Along the Renowned Alsace Wine Route
Head south from Strasbourg along the Alsace Wine Route, a scenic corridor of vineyards, villages, and castle-topped hillsides. As you drive between wine towns, your guide explains the history of Alsace wine, the influence of the Vosges Mountains, and the role of terroir in shaping the region’s distinctive styles.
This half-day excursion includes visits to two carefully selected wineries, where you’ll enjoy intimate, commented tastings and learn to recognize the key grape varieties and appellations of Alsace.
Discover Obernai: Historic Wine Town
Your first stop is Obernai, a picturesque town on the Wine Route known for its timber-framed houses, medieval ramparts, and long-standing wine tradition. Stroll its winding streets and see highlights such as the Saints-Pierre-et-Paul Church, the Belfry, the Six Bucket Well, and the Sainte-Odile Fountain.
As you explore, your guide shares how Obernai developed from its foundation in the 13th century into an important member of the Décapole, an alliance of imperial cities that sought greater autonomy and prosperity through trade and winegrowing.
Alsace’s Aromatic Wine Diversity
Alsace is especially renowned for its aromatic white wines, including Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Sylvaner, as well as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. Protected by the Vosges Mountains, the region benefits from one of France’s driest climates, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and fully, concentrating flavors and aromas.
At your winery visits, taste a selection of these varietal wines and learn about their typical profiles—citrus and mineral Riesling, spicy and floral Gewurztraminer, rich and textured Pinot Gris—and how they pair with regional dishes such as choucroute, tarte flambée, and Munster cheese.
Exclusive Tastings at Selected Wineries
During the tour, you will visit two family-owned or independent wineries along the Alsace Wine Route. In the cellars or tasting rooms, meet winemakers or knowledgeable staff who will explain their vineyard practices, winemaking choices, and the particularities of their terroirs.
Enjoy generous tastings of local white wines, and when available, sample late-harvest or Grand Cru cuvées that showcase the full potential of Alsace’s vineyards. This is an ideal moment to ask questions, compare styles, and purchase bottles to take home if you wish.
Return to Strasbourg
After your second tasting, relax on the drive back to Strasbourg, taking in the last views of vine-covered slopes and picturesque villages. You’ll return enriched by the landscapes, stories, and wines of the Alsace Wine Route.
This exclusive half-day tour blends historical depth, cultural richness, and enological excellence, making it a perfect excursion from Strasbourg for wine lovers and curious travelers alike.
Please note that, All tours are subject to modification of itinerary or cancellation in case of unexpected events such as weather conditions - especially in Alsace during winter period. Our team will keep clients informed in case modifications or cancellations are to be made to insure the safest possible travel options.
What to know before your tour?
Enjoying wine is a wonderful part of discovering France’s culture and heritage. We encourage guests to savor each tasting responsibly and at their own pace. Please remember that wine contains alcohol, and moderation helps you fully appreciate the flavors, keep a clear head throughout the tour, and make the most of your experience.
In France, snacks are usually not provided during wine tastings to preserve the purity of the wine's flavor. We recommend having a good breakfast or lunch beforehand.

Maggie M 20, Nov 2025I had such a great experience at those vibrant wineries, would love for my friend to experience the same. Thank you!

Kathryn R21, Oct 2025Excellent tour with very interesting information from wine growers. I particularly enjoyed the family business and have a much deeper understanding of ‘terroir’. Oliver was an excellent guide: friendly, warm , informative.
5
Jessica25, Jun 2025Had a wonderful time tasting Alsatian wines! Our guide gave us a little history background of the Alsace region, we stopped up in the mountains to take pictures and then we were off to taste the delicious fruits of the vineyards! This wine tour was fantastic!
5
Rebecca O27, May 2025We went on a half-day guided wine tasting tour with Pauline and it was excellent. As well as tasting at least 5 different wines in two cellars (one being very unique to the cellar/ area) Pauline gave us an introduction to the area surrounding Strasbourg. So interesting! If you're staying in the city for a short time it's an excellent way to taste some different wines and see some of the beautiful towns and countryside. Pauline was an excellent guide with commentary, she was very happy to answer questions and stop for photos.
5
Marc A19, Mar 2025A wonderful afternoon in the Alsace wine region! Jerome was an outstanding host with a friendly approach to the group and an amazing knowledge of the wine, the region and Strasbourg. For those English speaking tourists, his English is excellent!
The 2 wineries we visited were very good with friendly hosts and fantastic wine. The tastings were a great cross section of wines produced in the region and are well priced if you decide to buy a bottle or 3.
5
Anne L20, Nov 2024We had a delightful tour yesterday. Our guide Florence was knowledgeable, informative and engaging. The wineries we visited were welcoming, and the villages we saw along the Wine Route were enchanting. Thank you for this wonderful experience in your region of France and a huge merci to Florence.
5
Robin L13, Nov 2024Great tour. I believe we tasted 18 Different wines in our two stops. We learned so much from our guide and the owner of the winery.
5
Nadeschda S06, Oct 2024Our half-day wine tour in Alsace was an absolute highlight and a clear recommendation for every visitor to Strasbourg! We started on time at the meeting point and with a group of 8 people we were just right for a personal and relaxed atmosphere. During the drive along the wine route, our friendly guide Pauline provided us with exciting information about the region and the two wine houses we visited. These couldn't have been more different and offered us fascinating insights into the diversity of Alsatian winemaking. The tour was the ideal length for us, we were able to taste in peace and even take one or two wines home with us. A great experience and a must for wine lovers!
5
Louise L04, Oct 2024We had a wonderful tour with Laurent. He was so knowledgeable and fun. We did the half day which was perfect. The wineries were family run and they were very generous with the wine. We got a great overview of both the history of the region and information about the rich history of wine in the region. It was very well organized, the van was very comfortable . I highly recommend this tour.
5
Leslie R12, Sep 2024This was 100% a wonderful trip. Florence is warm and charismatic and very easy to understand. She was so careful with her driving and so knowledgeable about everything. I highly recommend.
5
Rakesh31, Aug 2024Robin, the guide was awesome!
5
Joan30, Aug 2024Thierry was an excellent guide! He was knowledgeable, accommodating, flexible, and friendly. We had very memorable visits at the wineries, especially the first, where we got a lot of attention and special behind the scenes info. We highly recommend the tour!
5
Ruxanda30, Aug 2024Great escape into the countryside of Alsace! Pauline is an awesome guide. She explained everything about the route and the vineyards we were visiting. The wine selection was incredible and the local producers were incredibly welcoming and passionate about their craft.
5
Carol10, Jun 2024Maksym was an excellent tour guide, probably one of the best I have ever had. He is fluent in many languages, and his command of English was exemplary. His knowledge of wine and the land of Alsace was detailed and interesting. He clearly had wonderful rapport with the vintners. Additionally, Maksym’s sense of humor and attitude helped make everyone on the tour feel very comfortable, and he assured us that there were no stupid questions. This is a man I would like to clone as a tour guide for all my other tours: because of his depth of knowledge, his excellent language and people skills, and his safe driving skills - no minor feat when you have 8 other people in the van talking.
4
Netherlands07, Jun 2024The diversity in wine places and the different tastes of wine were amazing!
5
William06, Jun 2024The visits were amazing, our guide Laurent was exceptional with his knowledge, tips and
vibe! the wines were very good too with a great variety
5
Francis02, Jun 2024This was a great way to experience the countryside around Strasbourg and enjoy the wonderful wine culture. Our driver was fun, very attentive, and provided us with a memorable experience os Alsace. We would recommend this to anyone who was going to be in Strasbourg.
5
K601WQ30, May 2024We had a great trip! It was raining during or tour, but our tour guide still made the trip very
fun. He was a good driver, very knowledgeable about wine making, the Alcace region, and
the two wineries we visited. I learned a lot on the tour and had a lot of fun!
5
Angela29, May 2024My friend and I love wine but were hesitant to book a group tour, but we are so glad we did! We met 2 couples from DC so there were 6 of us total and we had an amazing time. Our guide was very knowledgeable about wine, he took us to 2 local vineyards where we tasted some amazing wine! 5 stars all the way! Highly recommend!
5
Roberto26, May 2024Las dos viñas muy bien escogidas y en medio de la campiña Alsaciana.
Geromme, muestro guía y Sommelier de profesión; excelente
3
Margie26, May 2024We had a fun time, and met 2 other people that made the day more enjoyable. The first stop was nice, but not really educational in any way. We weren’t with anyone from the winery, just the guide, who kept checking to see where a girl that worked there was at the moment. The second felt like we were there to visit the guide’s friend, who said hello to us again didn’t interact or share any information. I understand that can be because of a language barrier, but perhaps other wineries should be chosen if that will be an issue. We did 2 other wine tours in Europe this trip, and enjoyed those much more than this one.

Aoife25, May 2024
5
Rick S25, May 2024Our driver / guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to be with. He knew his wine and he
knew his way around. He even dropped us off right at our ship (Emerald river cruise), which
was super nice and very much appreciated! Highly recommend.
5
Megan25, May 2024Loved it, wine was great, tour guide was wonderful. We stopped at two vineyards, tasted a
bunch of good wine, made a pit stop along the way for photos. Would absolutely
recommend. Good times are made over wine and cheese, not salad and water.
5
George25, May 2024This was a great way to explore the Route du Vin on a rainy afternoon. Pauline was a great
guide, and the vineyards we visited were beautiful and accomodating.
5
Gina W23, May 2024We had a wonderful time on our half day wine tour with our guide Jeremy! A perfect afternoon to make the most of the Alsace region. We were blessed with a fun group, beautiful weather, delicious wines and a great guide! In addition to the wine, one of the highlights of this tour is the beautiful drive along the wine route, and the opportunity to stop and view the beautiful vistas.
5
Elina20, May 2024Wir waren mit Jerome unterwegs. Er ist ein super Tourguide und hat ein breites Wissen! Beide Weingüter waren super. Sehr zu empfehlen!

5
Anonyme15, May 2024Our guide, Laurent, was wonderful—enthusiastic, knowledgeable and personable. The
Alsatian countryside is gorgeous. The wines were varied and tasty. One of the best wine
experiences we’ve had and we are from Napa!
4
5
Bleema09, May 2024Loved this Tour. Pauline was amazing, very warm, and informed on Alsace as a native to the
area. Definitely would recommend to anyone who will be in the area and has the time to
attend.
5
Sinikka06, May 2024Our tour guide was very kind and willing to share his expertise. The visits to the wineries were
well organized and we were allowed to taste several local wines.
5
Trudelsyl03, May 2024We really enjoyed our afternoon tour with Tierry (sp?). We could say we had the VIP tour since there was only the two of us with him. Tierry was knowledgeable and full of information about the area. We stopped at two wineries with nice tastings and friendly hosts. They were happy to answers all our questions about the Alsatian wines. The afternoon went by quickly. We would recommend the tour to anyone wanting to see a little bit of the countryside and wanting a taste of some Alsatian wines by family owned wineries.
3
Karyl C03, May 2024Our guide, Robin, was very pleasant. The second winery was not very memorable, the host
barely spoke.
5
Noble Anderson28, Apr 2024In April, there were three in our group, and Robin from Ophorus was our guide for the tour. We toured through very picturesque medieval villages and vineyards along the way. He was accommodating and informative, and we could tour two local vineyards. We learned a lot and sampled many wines—even buying some to ship home! This tour is highly recommended to others, especially those who want to have a good understanding of the most excellent Alsatian wines!
5
Clara Kent27, Apr 2024We did 2 fabulous tours with Ophorus - a culture, history, and architecture tour and a wine tasting tour. Both were wonderful! Myriam was a fantastic guide for both tours! She is knowledgable, funny, and kind. We will be recommending these tours to anyone who visits the Alsace region. 10/10!

5
Tshiamo Nakanyane23, Apr 2024Very wonderful experience. I learned alot about wines from this area
5
Allyn Ryan22, Apr 2024Jerome G took us through Barr, Obernai, and Mittelbergheim on a search for Cremant D-Alsace. We were outdoors looking at vineyards, and learned about the old charming villages with narrow streets.
Jerome G shared much interesting history of the area including the terroir. We stopped at two wineries and enjoyed the tastings and the owners' unique stories. Jerome was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. We look forward to traveling with Orphorus Tours in October in Bordeaux!

5
Clare Everard.25, Sep 2023Our tour this afternoon with Laurent, as our guide was excellent. We were given both historical and wine related information. The actual tastings were informative and well balanced.
Laurent was able to answer the questioned asked of him. He also made the group feel comfortable and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Many thanks

5
Karen J17, Sep 2023The vintner and our driver gave us a fantastic presentation of each oh the 14 wines we sampled from the Alsace. I learned so much more about these wines (mostly white) than I have in my liquor store! Also, the drive through this beautiful part of France was magnifique!

Gordon29, Jul 2023I love wine tours and food tours and this one is absolutely one of the best I have ever been
on. You will visit two wineries and spend a good amount of time at each one. They are also
not too far out of Strasbourg so the driving time is not too long....

Brian H22, Jul 2023The tour guide, Damien, was awesome! The small size of the tour coupled with the selection of wineries, made the whole experience incredible. I highly recommend this tour company to anyone visiting Strasbourg. The wines we sampled were fabulous and both vintners took a lot of time to explain the winemaking process from types of grapes and wines produced In the Alsace region to the types of soils and their effect in the character of the eine. It was hard to keep track of which I liked the best but that is a good problem to have! Very enjoyable and we all had a great time.

Donyel20, Jul 2023My daughter and I had a wonderful time! Jerome was very knowledgeable on the wine and the area. He was is very good spirits and friendly. We stopped at 2 wineries and tasted approximately 6 wines at each. The wineries chosen were a good contrast in varieties and flavors. We took the opportunity to ship wines back to the USA with Jerome’s assistance. We were able to combine our purchases from the 2 wineries to save money on shipping. This was a very special experience that will be cherished in our memories.

N/A14, Jul 2023Lovely Day.
Great! LOTS of wine! Learned a little about family wineries. Lovely group of people with our
group. Thank you!
5
Stacy F11, Jul 2023We learned about winemaking, toured a wine cellar, and tasted some delicious white wines from family wineries of the Alsace. The drive was beautiful. It was fun to meet our tour mates from the US, Canada and Europe. Our guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history, geography, food and wine of his home region. The wine was amazing!
5
CJV65606, Jul 2023Had a great morning with our guide and driver, Laurent, who was knowledgeable and engaging. Loved the combination of wineries: two very different experiences with different wines, but both friendly and intimate and generous with the number of tastings (eat a solid breakfast before you go!). The drive through the various villages was beautiful and the commentary on each, very interesting. We would have liked to stop and walk through one of the villages - as described in the tour offering - but perhaps this was sacrificed to allow drive-throughs of more villages? Or to accommodate the many Ophorus tour groups that were going out that morning? Half a star off for not delivering on that, but an enjoyable and worthwhile morning at any rate.
5
Steven F05, Jul 2023The tour guide, Florence, was fantastic. We went to great vineyards in great, small towns, and learned a great deal.
5
Stephen04, Jul 2023This tour was amazing! Our tour guide picked us up in the middle of Strasbourg in a very spacious and new van. We had a wonderful time at both wineries. The guide was very knowledgeable and interesting. Just enough time in each place. We learned a lot and had delicious wine and great photo opportunities! He dropped us off at our hotel so it was very convenient. Felt very safe. Perfect half day tour!
5
252eddie23, Jun 2023Our tour guide, Robin, was very knowledgeable about the Alsace region and very passionate about wine and his job. We visited two vineyards and got to taste a bunch of really good wine. Robin picked eight of us up in a very nice van. So much more personal than a large group in a big tour bus.
5
Erica T18, Jun 2023I’ve visited a number of vineyards in my time, but this wine tour really exceeded my expectations. It was wonderful to travel to rural villages less than 30 minutes from Strasbourg and for a a few hours become part of the Alsace wine making community. I learned so much about the unique characteristics of the local wine and how wine growers are using innovative agricultural methods to preserve the soil and ensure the vines thrive using bio methods. Our guide Laurent who is from Strasbourg provided insights throughout our tour on the region’s history and how the region’s French and German roots have influenced the food, wine and culture. This tour should not be missed.

He helped us getting back to our ship on time before departure so that really relieved my worries.

Elizabeth22, May 2023The tour was very average, we had expected something more organised & professional, this
wasn’t. Our driver didn’t give much commentary & the 2 wineries we went to were very
“rustic”! We wouldn’t recommend.

region, and a personable guide (Robin).
5
N/A29, Jul 2022Phenomenal tour and guide (Jeremie)! We went to the wrong meeting point and they went out of their way to pick us up. The local wine producers were very friendly, hospitable and generous and the wine was exquisite!
5
N/A27, Jun 2022A great tour with a very knowledgeable and funny guide, Robin. The small group of 8 people was just the right mix to learn about and taste Alsacian wines, the drive through the area safe and picturesque. I highly recommend it.
5
N/A08, Jun 2022The wine tour was great! It would have been cool to get to see some aspects of the wineries like the vineyards themselves or some of the behind the scenes of the wine making but it was still very fun! The second stop we made at Andre's winery was outstanding, he had a very cool story and lots of amazing wine to show us!
5
Brian S.01, Jun 2022Highly recommend! We had a great time on the tour and it is very informative. We learned a lot about the local Alsace wines and the region itself. Our guide Laurent was very knowledgeable and was great fun. You get a lot of wine which is always a plus. We did the 1/2 day tour and it was perfect for us.
5
N/A28, May 2022Excellent guide who was very friendly and informative. Learnt more than just about the wine, but about the local history. Very easy going and enjoyable experience. The visits to the winery were relaxed, time was given to enjoy the experience without any pressure. Would highly recommend, and am considering using this company for other experiences in nearby destinations.
5
N/A22, May 2022We honestly couldn’t have been happier with this wine tour! Jerome was an excellent guide and this experience was one of the highlights of our ladies trip to Strasbourg!
5
Sarah20, May 2022I highly recommend this half day tour from Strasbourg. As travelers reliant on public transit, we were introduced to the Alsace country side, of which we wouldn’t have been able to see on our own. Our guide, Laurent, was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and engaging. He brought us to two small family run wineries producing amazing product. We even bought some bottles to take back with us. If you are traveling through Alsace - this is a must do
5
Cheralyn McKee05, May 2022Great tour! Jérome was a informative and thoughtful guide. The wine was delicious!

NA14, Apr 2022I feel like I learned a lot and tasted some delicious wine! I'm more of a red wine drinker but now I have a new appreciation for the white wines. The guide and the wineries were friendly and fun. The group dynamic is very positive with only 8 people. I highly recommend!

Migle09, Apr 2022Thank you very much for the tour!!! The tour was just what you would want for first taste of Alsace wink wink. Some information about grapes of the region and wine yards and traditions of the place. The guide was very warm, welcoming and very fun! It was one of the biggest highlights of our week in Strasbourg.❤️

NA04, Mar 2022Really enjoyed our tour of two very local wineries! Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, sharing lots of history and details about the region of Obernai and Alsace. Loved that we could tour a centuries old wine cellar, visit a biological winery, meet a wine maker who gave us lots of insight into the process and taste well beyond a few wines of the region.

Thomas_J28, Oct 2021Our tour guide, Florence, brought the Alsace region alive with wonderful knowledge of not just the wine, but the entire region. The wineries we visited had amazing wines with very friendly Owners. Overall a truly memorable tour and a definite highlight of my trip to France!

Deborah_B27, Oct 2021Florence was fabulous. Great tour guide and driver. The first stop at Noelle’s was excellent. Wonderful
ambiance and delicious wines. The second stop was more commercialized. Glad we had a few minutes for the Gingerbread Store.

Niamh_A18, Oct 2021We had a lovely tour with Pauline who was absolutely fantastic. The first winery was just OK, although I enjoyed the explanation of the winemaking process. I enjoyed the second winery more as it felt more relaxed and we got to taste a lot more wine. The reason for giving only 3 stars is purely for the price, we felt that it was quite expensive for what we got in comparison to previous tours. Couldn't have asked for a better guide though!

Caroline_D27, Sep 2021Five star tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and willing to answer all of our questions. Definitely recommend the wine from the second stop.

Merci Florence

N3325PTanthonya21, Oct 2020Best wine tour ever
Highly recommend this tour, if you're a lover of white wine in general. The guide, florence, took us to
some really breathtaking places and introduced us to the very inspiring wine grower. Not only did we
learn a lot, we managed to have a very intimate experience throughout the alsace wine region.

NeilC00728, Jul 2020Perfect trip!
My wife and I had a wonderful wine trip with our guide, Ute. We visited Obernai, a very cute little walled village, Domaine Noelle Bachert in Barr, and Domaine Albert Seltz in Mittelbergheim. All our wine was very good and Ute was a fantastic guide and she allowed us to go over on time a bit so as to not rush our final tastings. I would definitely recommend this tour.

LJB194413, Jul 2020Hoping for next year
We had scheduled a trip to your region at the end of May but obviously had to cancel. One of our
activities in the region was to visit the wineries. We are now planning for next May. Stay safe, we look forward to seeing you in 2021

Linda (Switzerland) 07, Mar 2020Florence made it a great trip with lots of information, nice stops and great wineries. It felt like a private tour. We enjoyed especially the vineyard Bachert with the cosy atmosphere and good wines.

lynette (France)27, Oct 2019our guide, Danielle[ I think], was delightful - widely knowledgeable: history of area, architecture, and any other topic raised including philosophy. She also took care to ensure everyone engaged. It was a compact trip to an Alsace village plus two more with the vignerons. Most interesting was the organic winery where the eclectic winemaker had such a broad interest in nature, loved his knowledge of subject and for the insects and animals as well as the grapes intrinsic to his craft. Fascinating trip.

The tour is the highlight of our trip at Strasbourg. Simon is a funny, experienced guide, during the tour he gave us some background on wine and local i

Alexis D09, Oct 2019Overpriced and nothing special
I was not impressed with this tour. It is far too much money for the quantity of wine and the experience. We stopped in a small town for approximately four minutes on the way to the first winery where we had extremely small sample pours and the "cellar experience" in the description meant standing in the back for 5 minutes. The second winery we sat in a very strange backroom that felt nothing like a winery. Both wineries are located right in town so I would not pay for this experience if I were you--I would take the bus and visit more wineries and build your own adventure for far less money.
Quick answers
What happens if we do not find the meeting point for our Shared Alsace Wine Tour?
You have to be at the meeting point at least 10 minutes prior to tour departure. If you are having difficulties finding the meeting point you must call us on our office number +33 556 152 609 so that we may help you find the exact area. Please note that tours leave on time and if you are not there at the designated area and indicated time the driver/guide will leave. Please refer to our terms and conditions for more information.
What type of vehicles are used during a day trip from Strasbourg?
Our company uses only Mercedes Tourer Viano 8 seater minivans that are recent, comfortable and fully equipped including individual A/C, shaded windows, large leg space and on board P/A system for commentaries by the guide.
Who conducts these Alsace shared wine tours from Strasbourg?
We only employ accredited and licensed tour guides that are also the drivers for all tours that need visits to be conducted by certified guides. Good examples are: the visit of museums, guided walking tours in cities, visit of historical monuments and so on.
In some regions, where wine tours prevail (Bordeaux, Alsace) the tours are conducted by professional local guides, that are experts in Wines. The very large majority of our guides hold at minimum the WSET level 2 in wines.
Can we choose which winery we will visit on a shared Alsace Villages Tour?
No, unfortunately a scheduled tour is already pre-programmed and the wineries have been (carefully) selected. If you would like to visit some specific wineries while you are staying in Strasbourg or Colmar then do not hesitate to book one of our Alsace Private Wine Tours.
Are the Winery Tours private in Alsace?
During our scheduled/shared tours the visits at the wineries are not private and you may find yourself being grouped with others. Groups usually always remain in low numbers. If you are seeking a more exclusive Alsace Wine Tour then do not hesitate to book one of our private tours. We will organise a private visit just for you and your party.
Please note that on our shared Alsace Day Trips from Strasbourg, Ophorus tours are always conducted in English during the tours or at the wineries. Unlike other providers we refuse to mix languages.
What type of wines are produced in the Alsace region of France?
Alsace wines are essentially white wines. Here, the main characteristic is that Alsace wines are varietal wines. The grape varieties that are allowed are Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois, Gewurztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir (the only red grape variety), Sylvaner and Muscat. Most wines produced are dry white wines but other wines include Sparkling wines, late harvest wines or sweet wines. Then there are Grands Crus Alsace wines that make up for just 4% of the total production.
How many Alsace wines will I taste during this tour?
In Alsace, there are 7 different varietal wines, sparkling wines and sweet white wines. The range is therefore quite large and depending on the wineries visited you will wine taste anything from 4 to 7 or more wines per winery. Alsace winery visits are a treat for all white wine lovers!
