In four hours, you will visit two renowned estates on the Left Bank, explore their vineyards and cellars, and taste wines that represent some of the most sought-after appellations in the world, all with a dedicated expert guide.
The Médoc peninsula, stretching north of Bordeaux along the left bank of the Gironde estuary, is home to an extraordinary concentration of prestigious wine estates — including four of the five Premiers Crus Classés of the 1855 Classification. The appellation's deep gravel soils, excellent drainage, and mild Atlantic climate create near-perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon, the dominant grape variety here, producing wines of remarkable structure, complexity, and ageing potential.
The route along the Route des Châteaux passes some of the most recognisable names in Bordeaux — Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac, Saint-Estèphe — each appellation with its own distinct character, shaped by subtle variations in soil and microclimate that your guide will explain as the landscape unfolds around you.
Your tour includes visits to two carefully selected Médoc estates. Each visit combines a guided tour of the vineyard and cellar — covering viticulture, the winemaking process, and the philosophy of the estate — with a structured tasting of the château's wines. Your guide will provide context throughout, helping you understand how each wine reflects its appellation, its vintage, and the choices made by the winemaker.
Travel between each stop is in a private, air-conditioned vehicle, with time along the way to take in the scenery and stop for photographs of the vineyards and châteaux that line the route. The tour departs from and returns to your hotel or accommodation in Bordeaux.
