Black Forest & Baden Wine Route Private Day Tour from Strasbourg
Discover the famous town of Baden‑Baden
In the morning, your English‑speaking driver/guide will pick you up at your centrally located accommodation in Strasbourg. After reviewing the day’s itinerary, board your air‑conditioned vehicle, cross the Rhine River, and make your way into southern Germany.
Baden‑Baden, a historic spa town, lies on the western foothills of the Black Forest along the Oos River. In the 19th century it became a fashionable meeting place for European high society, drawn by its thermal baths, elegant hotels, horse races, and the landscaped gardens of the Lichtentaler Allee.
Discover this fascinating town, which still boasts beautifully preserved Belle Époque architecture. Follow your guide on a walking tour through its refined streets and enjoy some free time for personal exploration and lunch.
The Black Forest & Schwarzwaldhochstrasse
In the afternoon, depending on your preferences, your tour will continue toward the Black Forest via the famous Schwarzwaldhochstrasse scenic road. The Black Forest is a wooded mountain range bordered by the Rhine valley to the west and south, with its highest peak, the Feldberg, rising to 1,493 metres.
The region takes its name from the dark colour of its dense pine and fir forests. Black Forest gateau and traditional cuckoo clocks both originate here. Once used to transport logs, the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse is now one of Germany’s best‑known scenic routes, celebrated for its panoramic views, forest landscapes, traditional villages, and breathtaking mountain vistas.
The Badische Weinstraße (Baden Wine Route)
Your day can also include a drive along part of the Badische Weinstraße, the Baden wine route. Stretching for about 160 kilometres along the western edge of the Black Forest—from Baden‑Baden in the north to Weil am Rhein in the south, with an additional loop around the Kaiserstuhl and Tuniberg hills—it is one of Germany’s most attractive wine regions.
With around 15,500 hectares of vineyards, Baden is the country’s third‑largest winegrowing area. Both red and white wines of high repute flourish here: Blaue Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) dominates among red wines, while Müller‑Thurgau is a key white variety.
Other grapes are closely tied to specific subregions: Riesling thrives around Ortenau; Gutedel is typical of the Markgräflerland; and Burgunder varieties such as Ruländer (Pinot Gris) and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc) are widely cultivated in Breisgau, Kaiserstuhl, and Tuniberg. Depending on time and your interests, your guide can arrange one or more winery visits to sample these local specialities.
Return to Strasbourg
After your exploration of Baden‑Baden, the Black Forest, and the Baden wine route, relax on the drive back to Strasbourg, where your guide will drop you off at your accommodation at the end of this full‑day private tour.

We so enjoyed our tour of Freiburg and the Black Forest with Thierry. We learned so many things about Freiburg and saw the beauty of the Black Forest and Lake Titisee. It was such a pleasure to spend another wonderful day with Thierry as our guide.
Would it be possible to forward my contact information to Thierry to reply to me as I would like to send a personal note of thanks and gratitude from me and my friend? Thank you for your assistance.

We took a half day tour to Saint Emilion and absolutely loved it. Our tour guide gave us great information about the wine, the region, and the harvesting process. Early September was an ideal time to go because we actually got to see the harvest happening in real time. Would definitively recommend this tour to anyone who wants to go out and explore the Medieval village.

The tour was run by Pauline from Ophorus Excursions. She was fabulous. There were 8 of us traveling in a comfortable van equipped with a driver PA system so we could hear everything she said. Her driving was safe. In Baden-Baden we took some time walking through highlights and the central park, then up into the old part of the city. We then drove to the black forest wine region where we stopped at several sights, including a winery. We were gone for 10 hours, but I would have to say that we covered a lot of ground and could have used more time at villages
