The tour guide Raphael was not only super friendly and helpful but kept the group informed throughout the tour - and explained some history of Reims, the interesting sights in Epernay. We got to get inside the church where Dom Perignon was buried and saw the tomb. The guide from Moet et Chandon, Marienne, was also very knowledgable about the champagne making process and explained the whole procedure to us. It's definitely worthwhile to join this tour.

8 of us met our guide Melanie at Reims station and set off in her minivan for a days exploring.
We went to Reims Cathedral first, which is rightly famous for its stained glass windows. Otherwise, it is a bit plain by European cathedral standards. Then off to Tattinger, and down into the cellars, kilometres long beneath Reims. We had some good information from the inhouse guide, and then to the tasting room. One generous glass of Champagne comes with the tour--extra glasses cost 9Euro. Driving out of the city we visited Dom Perignons monastry and surrounding vineyards, before going to Epernay for lunch (own cost). Melanie recommended a terrific bistro where we bought a 6 glass tasting along with a share platter--terrific. After lunch, Moet & Chandon--similar to Tattinger, with a two glass tasting this time. Both Champagne Houses are elegant smoothly organised--great marketers. The drive back to Reims was pleasant, with lots of Champagne having been enjoyed by all.
The trip was well organised, interesting, and Melanie was a very knowledgable and pleasant guide!
