Your tour begins in central Dijon, where you meet your English-speaking wine expert guide and board a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan. Soon you’ll be driving along the iconic Route des Grands Crus, a legendary wine trail that links Dijon to the vineyards of Gevrey-Chambertin, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits-Saint-Georges.
Along the way, enjoy breathtaking vistas of rolling vineyards, stone-walled plots (clos), and picturesque wine villages that form part of Burgundy’s UNESCO-listed climats.
As you travel through the Côte de Nuits, your guide explains how geology, slope, exposure, and climate combine to create Burgundy’s famous mosaic of terroirs. Learn the difference between regional, village, Premier Cru, and Grand Cru wines, and how centuries of history have shaped today’s appellations and classifications.
Immerse yourself in the world of Pinot Noir with visits to two carefully chosen wineries in the Côte de Nuits wine area, such as around Gevrey-Chambertin and Nuits-Saint-Georges or the Hautes Côtes de Nuits. At each estate, you’ll discover the winemaking process from vine to bottle and enjoy a guided tasting in the cellar.
Sample a range of reds (and possibly a white Bourgogne) that showcase the elegance, structure, and complexity of Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir. Your guide will walk you through tasting techniques, flavor profiles, and how vintage and terroir influence each wine.
Photo stops are planned along the Route des Grands Crus so you can capture classic Burgundy landscapes: neatly aligned vines, historic stone walls, and village church spires rising above tiled roofs.
