Reilly23, Oct 2025This tour was definitely better than we were expecting. There is no way you could see & do all of the things we did that day on your own. The wine tastings and vineyard tours were all excellent, and our guide, Carol, was awesome. We did a ton of research before our trip to try to find all the best places to eat… but the 2 spots she sent us to were the top 2 in the end. I absolutely recommend doing this tour as well as the St Emilion full day tour.

Guy P20, Jun 2025Mathis was a great guide! Enjoyed the expertise that he shared along the way and appreciated his bonus game on the way home! We enjoyed the wines and especially the tours at each stop, learning a bit more at each stop. It was interesting to see what was the same and what was different in terms of processing the grapes across the various locations. Beautiful countryside to enjoy throughout the drive. In terms of value: Lunch on our own was ok -- another tour had lunch included at one of the wineries included in the price -- even though the food itself wasn't our favorite, it definitely added to experience which I think was a miss here. Definitely recommend the Medoc region, and for us, the full day was the right answer!

Adam30, May 2025Our guide Guy was very knowledgeable and had a welcoming personality. We’d definitely take another tour with him. He showed us around multiple sites in the area between stops on the wine tour and had several ideas for things to do along our tour and several suggestions for things to do in Bordeaux when we got back. All of the wineries were top notch and their staffs were great. We especially enjoyed the second stop on our tour where they let us taste two of the varieties of grapes used to make the wines (Merlot and Cabernet). We also enjoyed exploring the art collections at a few of the vineyards and learning about their history and wine making processes. The only thing that could have been better was a little more time at the last winery. That was towards the end of the day and felt a little more rushed then the first two. Overall great tour. Thanks again Guy.

Andreia S24, Nov 2024The tour was on time, as planned and very peaceful. The guide was attentive and careful with everyone. We visited 3 castles, the tastings and instructions were very well executed. I loved the day. Besides getting to know each other and tasting, it was a day of great learning. I highly recommend it.
4
Karen M.08, Oct 2024My client used your guide Oct 5th for a full day wine tour. He’s traveled the world and done many tours before. He said by far his guide was the best guide he has ever had, hands down.
5
Mike L30, Sep 2024We really enjoyed this tour. Olivier was a great tour guide and offered lots of interesting facts and information about the region. The guides at each chateau were fun and knowledgeable as well. We enjoyed the wines at all three stops and had a fun day overall. Would definitely recommend to others!
5
Laura C.28, Jul 2024We did a beautiful tour with Maud, who is very, very knowledgeable as she's been for quite some time in the wine industry, so she was able to explain and answer very technical questions withoutany problem.
We stopped to see some iconic Châteaux which were not in the package, which was a nice surprise. There was no lunch included in this tour but we had some free time to enjoy our own lunch in Pauillac. All the Châteaux we visited were really nice.
5
Akshay Kapoor10, Jun 2024As part of our honeymoon we booked a wine tour of the left bank of bordeaux and it could not have been a better experience. Luigi was the best tour guide we have had for a wine tour and made the day memorable. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and ensured each winery experience was optimal. Our entire group had a blast. Would highly recommend!

Keren Gardiner09, Jun 2024Fabulous tour, really fun and knowledgeable guide Ugo, a great experience and just the perfect mix!

Amber Rundle08, Jun 2024Amazing tour with Rodolphe. Great tour guide, lots of energy, very knowledgable! Thank you for a great day!
5
Petra V07, Jun 2024Hi,
I had a great time on the tour. Medoc was lovely and Justine was a treat! Very knowledgeable, with the right energy, I enjoyed her guidance a lot.
I appreciated the use of a microphone in the minivan, as it's sometimes difficult to hear the guide speaking and this setup fixed that issue perfectly.
I liked the variety of wineries/chateaus visited, every experience was slightly different. The wine selection was also great.
Justine was very accommodating to my needs but made sure it also didn't bother other guests on the tour, so it all worked out well.
What I thought was a nice touch was the little smelling game on the way back to Bordeaux :)
Thank you so much for having me on the tour!
Cheers,
Petra V.

Paul07, Jun 2024Our trip to the Medoc region was wonderful. The three wineries offered a variety of experiences, and the choices were great. Our guide was fantastic—very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth booking!
5
Bulbul Kumar05, Jun 2024Excellent experience! Mathis was a very knowledgeable guide and made us play a fun 'Nose of wine' game in the end. The chateaus we visited were all beautiful and the wines were excellent and generous! The drive was so comfortable and smooth, with a beautiful view of the vineyards all around. It was a beautiful relaxing day. You must book Ophorous!
5
William02, Jun 2024Justine did an excellent job of melding the small group together into a talkative bunch with simple questions for people to answer through to a fun testing of smells for red wine as the tour drew to a close. Three chateaux created a contrast, but all were "rooted" in cabernet sauvignon-dominant offerings at tastings, although several of the wines between the three actually had greater amounts of merlot, which was a surprise. Pauillac was surprising small and fun for lunch.
5
Sara P25, May 2024This tour is amazing! Andrew was the best driver and guide. He was friendly, professional, funny, and allowed for an absolute great half day tour! The first winery was magnificent. We learned so much about wine production. The wines were also delicious. The second winery was just a tasting. The wines were equally as delicious! The Medoc region was a nice 45/50 minute drive from the center of Bordeaux. We loved this tour. * As an American, this is not the boozy wine tour we are used to in the states. It is simply a tasting. FYI if you are expecting to be able drink glasses of the wine wines you like from the tasting.

Fiona & Peter 21, May 2024Hello
We enjoyed a marvelous tour with Anne to the Medoc on Sunday 19th May.
Her commentary was excellent - knowledgeable, professional and humorous at times, too. She is well spoken and easy to understand.
We enjoyed all the stops, and were delighted to visit Pauillac on the fete d'agneau.
Thank you for a great day out. We will post a Google review when we have better access to it.
Wishing you a busy summer.
Fiona and Peter

Shona MG21, May 2024The tour was excellent. The chateaus chosen were all different but interesting and we learnt something at each venue. Our guide Laetitia was excellent showing good people skills, connecting with everyone in the group from three different countries. Her wine knowledge, both local and international was outstanding. Linda M17, May 2024All 3 winery visits and wine tastings were interesting and very different. Our guide was wonderful. We had gone on a wine tasting two days before so I was a bit afraid this would just be more of the same. But it was not. It was unique and fun. We even played a wine game in the van on the way back. It was a great day.
5
Mun Jong Choi12, May 2024Jerome was the best tour guide!
5
Grace09, May 2024Very informational and fun! Best wine tour to experience if you only stay for few days in France :)
5
Vania Matheus07, May 2024Clare was a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide that is knowledgeable about the wine and the Medoc Region! We loved each winery on the tour and getting to know the difference between French wine and the wines in each appellation as compared with our home town in Napa. A fun filled day with a great tour guide! I highly recommend!!

The vineyards were beautiful, so was our lunch and walking tour.
Rodolphe was super passionate and knowledgeable and we will be back
5
Poorinut10, Sep 2023Our guide Helen was extremely passionate. Beautiful chateau and vineyards along the way. It’s just the chateau we visited only offered 2 types of wine for tasting. Would be nice if it was more but I was told that it normal everywhere in medoc.

Susan16, Aug 2023We thoroughly enjoyed our guide, Emily. She was very knowledgeable, engaging, and thoughtful. The Chateaus we visited were also really good and diverse in their offerings. Our only issue was with lunch. We were dropped in Pualliac and left on our own. The offerings were not what you would expect for being in a world renowned wine region. Please consider adding an exceptional opportunity for lunch to complement the amazing wines in the region.

Léon Landry22, Jul 2023I recommend this company 100% without hesitation. The guide (Charles) was very knowledgeable and communicated well with the group.
5
Jessica09, Jul 2023Guillaume made our small group tour spectacular! We had fun, drank well and ate well. He could answer all our questions. He really knows the area. HEADS UP: Sunday not as many vineyards are open so you can only visit the one’s that are open. Keep that in mind when booking your trip. A lot of stores are closed on Sunday too.
5

5
Amy MOORHOUSE05, Jul 2023We thoroughly enjoyed this tour of the left bank of Bordeaux. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and charismatic. We drove through the area stopping at renowned wineries for photo ops and we had tastings at three different style estates. Lunch was on our own in a small town with recommendations by our guide.. Yukiko T26, Jun 2023This was the first time we visited Bordeaux in France. Our tour guide, Charles was excellent and he is so knowledgeable about Bordeaux wine. We leaned a lot from him. We visited three wineries in Medoc and tasted mainly fine red wines. Thank you Charles, and we definitely we want to come back to Bordeaux!!!
5
Amanda25, Jun 2023This was a wonderful tour. Our guide, Charles (Charlie) was timely, friendly and very knowledgeable. The three estates we visited all had something different to offer. I enjoyed each of them. Charlie also have some great restaurant recommendations when we stopped for lunch as well as for Bordeaux when the tour ended.
5
Brenda19, Jun 2023While the 3 chateau tours were interesting and wine tastings were delish, lunch in Poullaic (probably wrong spelling) was excellent! My favorite was Chateaux Prieuer Licine. Our guide was Charles, he was amazing, very knowledgeable and congenial. We had 2 hours for lunch and we chose option at a restaurant with outdoor seating. We were able to sit with some tour mates (Karl, Jacquoix, Sam, and Justine) and enjoyed a leisurely lunch. I had the risotto with prawns-fantastic, others had the mussels, hanger steak, pizza, a fish with risotto. Everyone’s lunch was good except my poor husband and his steak-sirloin was overcooked and very tough. The lemon sorbet was delicious and refreshing in the warm day. Medoc region is quite special and Charles was a great part of the experience!
5
James Greener16, Jun 2023Great day out. Guillaume, our guide, was very engaging and knowledgeable.

shared the day with other red wine drinkers.
5
Deborah Thurlow10, Jun 2023Oliver was quite informative about Bordeaux. We visited three wineries in Medoc. Two with tours and tasting. Each very unique. The third was a tasting only and the best was saved for last. Lunch was on our own. We were given suggestions and our mussels were fabulous. Really enjoyed the day.

France.

Steve T01, Jun 2023We had a great full day tour of the Medoc region with our guide Colas (hopefully I spelled his name correctly!). He was very knowledgeable and also had a good sense of humor which made the driving portions of the tour fun. We had an excellent selection of wineries that included contrasts in style and size on how wine was produced which we felt enhanced our overall experience. A truly great learning and tasting experience and many thanks to Colas and the other 6 members of our tour for this. Would definitely recommend this tour!

information. We visited three wineries and had lunch in Pauillac. Great tour!

Liang P15, May 2023Wonderful tour. Our guide Luigi was extremely knowledgeable, thoughtful, organized, and kind. He even prepared a game for all of us to play in the car on our way back to Bordeaux, which was about naming each fragrance contained in little bottles in a box. He clearly memorized what was in each of those numbered bottles. It would be great to have him as my guide again in the future.

Will W14, May 2023The best tour guide in the region - Andrew
What a brilliant tour of the Medoc region, Andrew was one of the best tour tour guides I have
ever met, engaging and knowledgable making the trip thoroughly enjoyable for the wine
enthusiasts and beginners in our group. Thank you!

Marc W14, May 2023The day fully live up to our expectations which, in part, which was due to the quality of the Chateaux that we visited but also due to Colas who proved to be an excellent guide for the day.
The only disappointment of the day was Pauillac which was very different to the quaint town that we had envisioned.
All in all we had a great day tasting some fabulous wines including Grande Cru Classe but Chateau Hourtin-Ducasse was a particular highlight.
5
Richard12, May 2023It was a very worthwhile trip. Luigi our host was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun
and interesting. We would definitely go again.

Lauras J01, May 2023Delicious wines at several beautiful chateaux. Nice lunch in Paulliac. Friendly guide that was
knowledgeable about the wine region.

N/A30, Apr 2023Excelente guia! Charles, conduziu muito bem todo passeio, conhece muito da região e dos processos dos vinhos. Para o nosso gosto, os vinhos de Médoc deixaram um pouco a desejar. Mas o passeio vale a pena se estiver com dinheiro sobrando.

Jeremia16, Apr 2023Great views and Olivier knew everything about the region. I was impressed with his
knowledge about not only the process but the historical significance of it all as well. Varied
stops at Chateau and opportunities to sample different terroir.

Jet 6127, Mar 2023Luigi was an awesome guide. He is very knowledgeable about the region and wines. His English is very good and he has a good sense of humor that made the day very enjoyable. The 3 Chateaux's that we visited were wonderful and the suggested lunch options were very good.

Byung Joon Jun22, Mar 2023We participated in the Medoc wine tour. At first, we visited one of the Grand Cru Classe, Chateau Marquis de Terme in Margaux, and in the afternoon we visited two chateaus of the Cru Bourgeois, Chateau Malescasse in Pauillac and Chateau Siran in Margaux. Especially after wine tasting at Chateau Malescasse, I learned that wines classified as Cru Bourgeois also have great taste and quality. Monsieur Luigi di Crocco, the sommelier who ran our tour, was a great one-day teacher for me and my wife. While driving to Medoc, he aroused interest with various stories about wine. In particular, while returning to Bordoux after the wine tour in Medoc, we enjoyed quiz game with wine aroma kit prepared by Monsieur Luigi di Crocco. It was very fun and enjoyable game with good lessons for scents, aroma of wine. The organization and operation of the tour program was perfect. It couldn't have been better. Thank you, Mr. Monsieur Luigi di Crocco, for giving us a valuable experience.

N/A21, Mar 2023An excellent day touring 3 different wine Château’s in the Medoc area. Great whether you know something or nothing about wine. Lots of interesting information by the guide (Karem) and you get to taste around 6 different wines in all. Lunch isn’t included but the selection of restaurants for lunch is great.
5
Kerrie C20, Mar 2023Thank you, Jerome for an excellent tour of the Médoc châteaus.
This is my second tour with this company and can thoroughly recommend. It is excellent value for money and you have a knowledgeable guide who is happy to answer all your questions. A perfect day out in Bordeaux!
5
Dean J18, Mar 2023We used this company for a tour in St Emilion which was absolutely fantastic but we loved Medoc even more!!!! We had Jerome as a guide and he was super knowledgeable and personable. We toured a chateau in Margaux, then one situated between Margaux and St Julien. Then we had lunch in Paulliac at a nice little cafe and then tasted at a third winery in Margaux. It was a very pleasant day and one of the highlights of our trip to Bordeaux!!! Highly recommended!!!
5
Lea C13, Mar 2023Enjoyed our guide and the people on the tour. We learned about the technical aspects of
wine making. Interestingly, I was able to understand why I do not appreciated the left bank
Bordeaux wines as much as right bank and Côte du Rhone varietals.
4
Darren13, Mar 2023I very much enjoyed listening to our tour guide Jerome who was extremely knowledgeable
about the region and the wines produced. From the start he was very friendly and put us at
ease.
5
Alex Balwin09, Mar 2023Terrific tour by Jerome! Really great choice of Chateaus for the wine tastings & tours. Also, Jerome was great with questions and extremely friendly throughout! Cheers!

Graem31, Oct 2022Very knowledgeable and helpful English speaking guide. Tour was at a good pace and
plenty of time to wander around each location. Even organised lunch for us which was
good.
5
N/A24, Aug 2022The tour with Ugo was amazing! We were a small group and he brought us with a cool van to three different Chateaux. He shared a lot of interesting stories and shared all his wine knowledge with us, replying to every single question we had with such interesting stories! Definitely worth the money, we found it a it expensive first but the trip, the fine wine selection, the visit to the chateaux and seeing how different they are in making their product, and definitely the guide, make it a wonderful experience!
4
Juela Shano03, May 2022It was a pleasure for both of us to do the tours of Medoc and Saint Emilion with your team. Special thanks to Emily and Hugo, who made the tour a unique experience - their unique narratives did create for us a "terroir" feel with the two areas in terms of history of wine and people.
5
William_J10, Apr 2022Excellent guide and good choice of château’s.
Camille was a brilliant guide with fantastic knowledge and energy. The choice and diversity of château’s was good.

Mary Heath30, Sep 2021We had a wonderful day with Luigi. He was very knowledgeable about wine, the process, the area. And a very nice guy! We did a second trip with another company because the timing worked better. We thought Ophorus was better!
5
Matt_H19, Sep 2021Great day in the Medoc region. Tour did not feel rushed and there was plenty of time at each location. Each winery was unique in its own way. Our guide was very friendly.

Great trip with visitation to 3 vineyards. I enjoyed the wine tasting and the beautiful scenery in the chateau. J was a wonderful guide with lots of information sharing and professional.
5
Vikrant B22, Dec 2019Beautiful experience
The beautiful scenic wineries with loads of knowledge about wine by the tour guide Abdul
Recommend to buy wine bottles from smaller wineries which are very rare to find in your countries but too good at very reasonable price

Andre B16, Nov 2019Great day
We had Julie, an enologist, she was great, lots of good info on wine classifications and various areas of medoc. We enjoyed our day along with the winery selections, we did buy wines at each stop. For many years we were not Bordeaux wine fans, but this tour changed and opened our minds to this region. Highly recommend this tour for Bordeaux beginners.
5
Susan G10, Nov 2019Wonderful tour- the best!
I highly recommend this tour- it far exceeded our expectations and made our visit to Bordeaux so much more enjoyable. Try to ask for Bruno -he was wonderful- so knowledgeable, perky and gracious. His explanations really helped us enjoy what we were seeing and he could answer all of our questions about wine, but also the history of the region as well as of the different chateaus.
We visited 3 very different types of wineries from the elegant to the family run and were able to compare the different styles and wines. He really added a lot to our trip and I think the tour was the best way to see a lot in one day and get oriented.

Katie H08, Nov 2019Day well spent
Jerome was a great guide! Went with my three friends for a day trip and it was my first wine tour. I
learned a lot from the individual chateau guides. Make sure you ask questions!

cmorcat57627, Oct 2019Don't waste your money
We did a full day wine tour of Medoc. We visited 2 wineries before lunch that were fairly close together. While the wineries themselves were beautiful, we were extremely disappointed with the size of the pours. We had enough for about two sips, not enough to swirl around in your mouth, and not enough to know if you like the wine enough to buy it.
We then went to lunch at a golf club about 45 minutes away from the second winery. Lunch was not included in the price of the tour, which we understood and were fine with. I will simply say that lunch was a complete debacle.
We then went back the way we had come to a third winery. Because of the distance to get to and from lunch, we were late arriving and did not have time to receive a full tour of their wine making facilities. The pours at the the third winery were also quite small. If we put all the wine we were given at the three wineries into one glass it would probably have been less than half a glass in total. Extremely disappointing!

Leila D14, Oct 2019Great day!
We have a wonderful time, Angie was fantastic! Definitely can depend on the other people who end up in your group, but luckily we had a nice bunch. I would absolutely recommend this tour - great value for the cost!

Quebec1930, Sep 2019Full day visit to wineries in Medoc
The group was small , 6 persons only therefore we had the full attention of our guide Hugo. He was knowledgeable, answered our questions in French and English. The drive with it’s Châteaux and vineyards was amazing. The local guides or hosts at 3 different vineyards were welcoming and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this tour.
2
Susan (United States)27, Sep 2019This was very poorly organized and felt that the value was very poor. The 3 visits were marginal and offered 2 very small samplings of their wines.... we could have visited these chateaux for 1/3 of the price we spent.
5
Peter (Germany)12, May 2019Die Tour war sehr interessant.Die Weingüter waren aufgrund ihrer Verschiedenheit sehr gut ausgewählt. Die Reiseleiterin war sehr kompetent und kümmerte sich gut um uns mit ihrer netten und erfrischenden Art!

Anonymous (Germany) 02, May 2019The tour was really informative and interesting, so nice to have access to the chateaus and feel the history & taste the wines. Would do it again! Only reason I gave 4 of 5 is that it was our tour guides first tour with Ophorus and her driving skills weren’t that good. Furthermore she spoke all the way back with another participant in French when I had hoped for some more information.

How many Bordeaux wines will I taste during this Médoc Wine tour?
Unlike other wine tasting sessions that you might have followed around the world, the tastings in Bordeaux are not as generous in terms of pours . The amount of wine tasted is not what many would expect but here it is all about elegance, fruit, quality, aromas and flavors rather than quantity.
Each Chateau will have you taste their premium wine and what we call the 'second' wine of the estate. Sometimes, Chateau owners also add a tasting of some other wine if they happen to be the owners of another Chateau in Bordeaux. So basically, at each winery visited it will be 2 to maximum 4 wines tasted.
If you wish to taste more wine, lunch in Pauillac is a perfect location to sample other appellations - it is easy to order wines by the glass. To further enhance your wine experience, it is always possible to buy some bottles at the wineries visited. Bordeaux has also a very large number of wine bars where you can enjoy a further tasting experience. Ask your guide for great recommendations.
Can I purchase wine at the visited wineries?
Yes, you will have the opportunity to purchase wine at the wineries we visit. If you find wines that you particularly enjoy, you can buy bottles directly from the wineries to take home and savor the flavors of Bordeaux. Some wineries will also offer some shipping options for those who would like to send some wine home.
Can we choose which wineries we will visit on a shared Bordeaux Wine Tour?
No, unfortunately a scheduled tour is already pre-programmed and the wineries have been (carefully) selected. If you would like to visit some specific wineries while you are staying in Bordeaux then do not hesitate to book one of our Private Wine Tours from Bordeaux.
Are lunch options provided during the tour?
While lunch is not included in the tour, upon reaching the town of Pauillac, your guide will point out various lunch options. To ensure ample time for the winery visits, we recommend opting for a light lunch that won't be time-consuming.
Are the Winery Tours private?
During our scheduled/shared tours the visits at the wineries are not private and you may find yourself being grouped with others. Groups usually always remain in low numbers. If you are seeking a more exclusive Bordeaux Wine Tour then do not hesitate to book one of our private tours. We will organise a private visit just for you and your party.
Please note that on our shared Bordeaux Day Trips, Ophorus tours are always conducted in English during the tours or at the wineries. Unlike other providers we refuse to mix languages.

Petit Verdot occasionally makes it into the blend but this being a very delicate grape to grow, the climate of the vintage has its importance.
