Lena did an excellent job with each option. She was equally conversing for our group in English and French as we had a mixed group. Lena made it easy to get to know the other tourists. Our group became quite friendly and we did 2 other tours together. It was such fun! Before you eat and try to shop take this tour with Lena so you can understand what things to look for to get exactly what you want out of your entire experience!

It was a good introduction to Sarlat, but not to the market. We really spent almost no time visiting the market. I am disappointed.

He gave us a very good overview of the history of this tiny town. Even though we’ve been staying here for almost a week, he added a lot to our historical perspective. Benoit took us to three distinct places – one with a lot of wonderful traditional cheeses, the second with traditional duck dishes, and the third a cute little café, where we had an espresso and tasted some of the local sweets made with walnuts. Great tour— just way too short. This could be a much longer tour without any difficulty.

Our guide’s English was excellent. We walked the food market from end to end and also explored much of medieval Sarlat, including history and architecture had three tasting opportunities at special shops adjacent to the market. The Saturday market was very crowded as expected, so it made sense to do the tastings in shops, rather than in the market itself, which would have been nearly impossible to do. Highly recommend this experience.

This is our second visit to Sarlat and we still learned much from our charming and knowledgeable guide about the town, markets, and local producers. The stops for tastings of local products ranged from walnut candies, cakes and cookies to a variety of foie gras and sausages. The wine pairings were inspired and we learned to expandable beyond Monbazillac with foie gras. We discovered — and bought! — walnut jam, truffle sausages, several types of foie gras, truffle mustard, walnut mustard... a feast for all the senses. Many thanks Ophorus!
